Advisory Board Recruitment

Letters to a Pre-Scientist is building an advisory board! We’re looking for feedback from individuals with a wide range of professional and personal backgrounds to help shape our future growth.

Who you are:

You’re a fierce advocate for diversity in STEM fields and ensuring that all students have equitable access to an engaging science education. You have experience in one or more of the following fields: science, education, nonprofit work, law, community organizing, IT, fundraising, science outreach.

Who we are:

Letters to a Pre-Scientist is a growing STEM outreach organization that creates personal connections between students attending high poverty schools and real scientists. We currently reach >650 students per year. The program was developed by Macon Lowman and Anna Goldstein in 2010. In 2017, we became a fiscally-sponsored nonprofit organization. For more details, you can download our LPS Executive Summary.

What you’ll do:

You’ll help mold the future of Letters to a Pre-Scientist using your expertise. You’ll participate in a quarterly video conference with the LPS Executive Team and the rest of the Advisory Board, totaling approximately 8-10 hours over the course of each year (though you’ll be welcome to share your feedback more regularly over email).

Please note that unlike a Board of Directors of a nonprofit organization, members of an Advisory Board have no legal ties to Letters to a Pre-Scientist. We are simply looking for individuals invested in our mission and willing to guide the Executive Team as we grow the program.

If this opportunity interests you, please email to with your name, the expertise you will bring to our board, and what drew you to this opportunity, and we’ll reply with more details. You can also reach out with any questions.
